Importing Your Friends

Importing
Friends
Most people do not wish for their regular contacts to have to authenticate and
while you can manually add their addresses one by one to your friends list,
this can prove to be time consuming and inconvenient. For this reason you can
easily import a friends list from most popular email software address books
(like Outlook) or other 3rd party applications.
Importing
A Friends List From Your Outlook Address Book.
Importing a friends list from outlook is fairly simple. The first thing you
need to do is export your Outlook address book to a format that TNLAS can read.
To do this follow these steps:
Step 1:
Open Outlook and select FILE->EXPORT->ADDRESS BOOK from the main menu. (see screenshot).
![]()
Step 2:
You will be prompted to select an output format. Find TEXT FILE (Comma Separated Values) in the list and select it. Once you have selected TEXT FILE. Press the EXPORT button.
Step 3:
You will then be shown a dialog that wants to know which fields you wish to include in the text file. While it doesn't matter what other fields you include, you must be sure that the email address field is selected. TNL Antispam will weed through all the other fields and only import the email address. Click the FINISH button
Step 4:
One you have chosen a filename and exported your address. Open up the TNLAS and select ACCOUNT->SPECIAL->IMPORT ADDRESS BOOK.
Find your freshly exported address book that you saved from outlook, select it and the addresses will be imported into your friends list.
Other Address Book
Formats And 3rd Party Formats.
TNL Antispam is quite flexible when it comes to importing friends lists. TNLAS
will import any text/ascii file that has one record per line. Some popular example
formats include:
One Address Per Line
A Comma Delimited File
A Tab Delimited File.
TNLAS is not picky about the fields or columns, it will look for the first email address it can find on each line and use that, while ignoring any other data contained there.
