Filters

TNL Antispam has a sophisticated filtering system that will aid in efforts to block unwanted email. The filtering system also aids in making sure legitimate email gets through to you.

TNL Antispam will search messages for the criteria you have specified and take action accordingly.

You can access the filters screen under the options menu.

Creating A Filter:
To create a filter you will enter in the filter information at the bottom of the filters screen.

Search String
This is what TNLAS will search for in the message.

Search In
Here is where you specify what part of the email you want to search in. You may select To, From, Cc, Subject, Attachments, Body, or Any. The attachment field ideal for blocking out certain extensions or filenames that are known viruses.

Serchtype
The searchtype field allows you to narrow down your search. You may require that your search matches exactly by selecting IS, or you may match your search with CONTAINS, STARTS WITH, ENDS WITH.




Action To Take:
If a message matches the criteria you have selected you need to tell TNLAS what to do with the message. You choices are:

Send To Trash
Sends the message to the trash, you will never see the message and it cannot be recovered.

Add To Friends List
This will automatically add the senders email address to your list of friends.

Add To Banned List
This will automatically delete the message and add the email address to your list of banned email addresses. You will never see the message and it cannot be recovered.


Hold But Do Not Authenticate
This will remove the message from your POP3 Mailbox and place it in the HELD MAIL queue. However, this WILL NOT dispatch an authorization request.








Removing A Filter
If you decide you don't want to use a filter you may delete it by selecting it on the list and clicking the trash can icon on the main menu at the top of the filters dialog.

Removing All Filters:
If you wish to clear all of the defined filters at once. You may click the Red X on the main menu at the top of the filters dialog. You will be prompted for a confirmation.

Adding a group of filters from another filter file.
The TNLAS Filter system allows you to import or add a group of filters from another filter file. To do this press the + button on the main menu at the top of the filters dialog. You will be prompted for a filename to import and all filters in that file will be added to your current filters list.
