Shipping Options Configuration
Once your customer gets to the checkout they will be asked to fill out an order form which consists of their name, address, and how they would like their order shipped. TechCart comes preinstalled with a basic shipping module that allows 3 different methods for charging shipping.
To configure these items you must access ‘Shipping Options’ from the main configuration/utility menu. The Shipping Options will require you to fill out information about each shipping type you wish to provide. TechCart allows you to setup an unlimited number of shipping options.
By default TechCart will already have a generic option setup for you. But it is likely that you will want to create other options to meet your needs. Below the existing options you will see a the Add New Option area of the page (below).
To add an option you will need to specify what you would like the option to be called. This will be displayed to the customer on the checkout screen. Then you will want need to select what type of payment option this is from the drop down menu (as shown above).
Each option type behaves differently. For example Percent of Total allows you to charge xx% of based on the total
amount of of the order as the shipping charge. Below is an explanation of each option type included with the TNL Basic Shipping Module that is included with TechCart. Additional shipping modules are available which provide alternate options to the default options that come with TechCart..
None
If you do not wish to charge anything for shipping you can select NONE your option type. When you press the CONFIGURE button no options will be presented to you.
Percent Of Total
If you want to calculate shipping/handling costs based on a percentage of the total of the order you would select this option. By pressing the CONFIGURE button with Percent of Total selected you will be asked to fill in the percentage that you wish to charge for shipping.
Per Item
Mail-order houses often will charge a per item shipping rate, for example: please add 2.00 for the first item and .50 for each additional item. If you would like to setup your shipping rate in such a manner select the Per Item Rate option. If selected, you will be required to fill in the shipping/handling amount for the first item and the amount for each additional item when you press the CONFIGURE button.
Other options may be available in your configuration, these options are NOT default TechCart options and have their own documentation.
Once you have filled out the Add New Option dialog press the ADD OPTION button for your option to be listed.
Once you have your options created you can delete an option by checking the DELETE checkbox and pressing the SAVE CHANGES button or you may modify the OPTION NAME or TYPE by changing the selection and Pressing SAVE CHANGES.
