All About Batch Numbers
What is a "Batch"?
The first thing you may notice about your TechCart administration screen is the batch number functions.
Orders placed through the online store are referenced with an order number and a batch number. When an administrator logs on to download new orders they download a "batch" of orders. This batch is referenced by a number which increments each time the administrator logs on to the administration module.
This ensures that the new order database isnt constantly changing while an administrator is logged on, which could cause an order to be overlooked. So for example, ABC Company Store is receiving orders to batch #5 the second ABC Store Administrator logs on to retrieve orders, all orders that are received are now being sent to batch #6, which will be available next time the store administrator logs on, thus allowing the administrator to work with all new orders since he logged in last time and in the event that the administrator wishes to print ALL NEW Orders a new order does not come in after the print page is loaded.
TechCart allows the administrator to work with other batches if he/she so chooses so if the administrator needs to work with the last batch they can. They can even preview the next batch however it is strongly recommended that you log off and log back on to work with the next batch.
Working With Batches Besides the Current Batch.
There may be a situation where you need to review new orders that came in the day before. If you check for new orders once a day and todays batch number is 10, common sense will tell you that yesterdays batch number was 9. TechCart provides an option to work with previous batches. In the SEARCH portion of the Store Owners Area you will find the option to Work With New Batch Number. Simply type in the batch number you would like to work with in the space provided and click the button labeled "GO TO BATCH#".
At any time you can click on CURRENT BATCH to return to the current batch of orders.
