Once you have completed the GroupMAN installation the first
thing you want to do is REBOOT!.
Creating Your First List:
1. Once your reboot is completed. You are ready to create your first list. To
do this Open the List Administration GUI from your START menu under the GroupMAN
menu.
2. Click on the NEW button or click FILE -> NEW.
3. The New List Wizard will open and walk you through the process of
creating your new list. The wizard will ask you several questions. Here is a
rundown:
List Name:
This is the name of the list. This cannot be changed once the list is created.
List Description:
This is a short description of the list. This short description appears on certain email templates.
List Owner's Name
This is the Name of the List Owner. This will appear in the help file under the section HOW TO CONTACT THE LIST OWNER.
List Owner's Email Address.
The email address specified here will have authority to moderate messages or perform other remote administration functions. This email address will also receive all administrative notifications from the List Server. This email address will be the only email address that is allowed to run subject line based commands scripted in the Owner's Actions File.
List Email Address:
This is the email address that emails to the list are sent to. GroupMAN will search the headers of each email to determine whether or not an email in a POP Mailbox actually goes to the list. If the LIST EMAIL ADDRESS does not appear in the headers the email will be left in the POP Mailbox.
POP Server
This is your incoming (or POP3) mail server. Typically this is assigned by your ISP or Web Host.
POP Username
This is the username assigned for the POP3 account.
POP Password
This is the password for the POP3 account
SMTP Server
This is your outgoing (or SMTP) mail server. Typically this is assigned by your ISP or Web Host.
List Data Folder
During the install process you where asked what folder you wanted to store your list data in. This default will appear when you are asked this question. It is recommended that you use the default.
4. Once you fill out the basic info, you will be asked to save your list configuration file. A dialog window will pop up asking you for a filename. The default file extension for GroupMAN configuration files is .GML.
5. Your new list has been
created! The LIST OPTIONS dialog will open so
you can further customize your list options.
